Plumber in Geelhoutpark,
Rustenburg
Plumber in Geelhoutpark for geysers, leaks, drains and the tanks and pumps that keep a house going when the supply stops. This suburb's water is pumped up from the Industrial reservoir, so a pump fault can mean days without water. Plan for that with a tank installation before the next one.

Geelhoutpark's water depends on a pump
Geelhoutpark is fed from its own reservoirs, Geelhout and Bellevue, and those are filled by pumping. The municipality's plan describes the Bospoort works pumping 12 megalitres a day to the Industrial reservoirs, which serve the Geelhoutpark and Bellevue reservoirs. Doubling that plant to 24 megalitres is half done: the civil works are finished, the mechanical and electrical work has not started, and the project is R135 million short.
When the pump stops, Geelhoutpark feels it. In October 2019 the pump "at the industrial reservoir pumping to Geelhout" broke, and residents said they "did not have water for over a week". In May 2021 households went up to four days without water, with the supply off from 19:00 to 06:00.
It has not gone away. Geelhoutpark was on the list for the January 2024 Vaalkop repair, with a warning that recovery could take up to 48 hours after supply was restored. The December 2024 Magalies notice put Extensions 4, 6 and 9 on the Geelhout Reservoir and Extension 6 on Bellevue, and said "the recovery period is not known".
Relief is planned but unfunded in full. The municipality lists a new 35 megalitre reservoir, pump station and mains for Kanana, Tlhabane West, Geelhout and Zinniaville with a R259 million shortfall, and the Blue Drop report records R28 million for new mains from the Cashan Reservoir to Geelhout.
For a house here, the practical answer is storage and a plan. A tank with a pump that cannot run dry keeps the taps going through a long outage. Switching the geyser off at the isolator while the water is off protects the element if the hot taps keep being used. And when the supply returns, an outside tap run until clear keeps the silt out of the house.
If your extension has gone days without water before, a tank and a properly connected pump are worth more than any repair after the fact.
Geelhoutpark sits between the golf course and the western hills
Geelhoutpark lies about 3 km west of the town centre and was the biggest suburb in the town at the 2011 Census, with over 14,000 people. The ground rises gently westward from about 1,169 m to about 1,246 m.
Rustenburg Golf Club and the Olympia Park stadium sit on its eastern edge, with Rustenburg Mall close by. Tlhabane West borders it to the north, and the extensions run west towards the hills.

How much is a plumber call-out in Geelhoutpark?
Geelhoutpark is about 3 km from the centre, an easy run. Rustenburg directories list standard call-outs at roughly R270 to R530 and hourly rates of roughly R360 to R900 in 2026. Your call-out fee is told to you on the phone before the visit is booked.
What size water tank do I need to get through an outage?
Work from how long the water has been off before and how many people live in the house. Geelhoutpark has had outages of four days and more. The plumber works out a size with you from your daily use and the space you have, and fits the tank so it refills when the supply returns.
Should I switch my geyser off when the water goes off?
For a long outage, yes. If hot taps keep being opened while no water comes in, the geyser can draw down, and an element left dry can burn out. Switch it back on once the water is running clear again.
Why does my water come back brown after an outage?
Refilling empty pipes stirs up silt and pushes it to the taps. Run an outside cold tap until it is clear before using the taps inside. If the hot water stays brown, the geyser needs draining.
My pump runs but no water comes out. What is wrong?
Usually the tank is empty, the pump has lost its prime, or a non-return valve has failed. Running dry damages a pump quickly, so switch it off and request a call-out. Fitting dry-run protection stops it happening again.
Do you work in Tlhabane West next door?
Yes. Tlhabane West shares the Geelhout Reservoir with parts of Geelhoutpark, and it is covered like the rest of Rustenburg. See the Tlhabane page.
